John J. Garvin was born February 20, 1939, in Moorhead, Iowa to parents John L. & Gertrude A. (Daldrup) Garvin. John graduated from Woodbine High School in 1956, and he served in the US Navy for 12 years. In June of 1965 he married Gail Bauer in Memphis, Tennessee. To this union three children were born Rebecca, Steven, and Julie. The couple settled in Seattle where John was a land developer. John then married Helen Morrison.
John enjoyed visiting, dancing, the outdoors, operating earthmoving equipment, collecting treasures and going to garage sales.
John died September 18, 2005 in Olympia, Washington attaining the age of 66 years, six months, and 29 days.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; and nephew, Kevin Wakehouse. Survivors include his three children, Rebecca Weaver of Byhalia, Mississippi, Steven Garvin of Memphis, Tennessee and Julie Smith of Olive Branch, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; four siblings, Mary & Chet Kapalla of San Diego, California, Paul & Mary Ann Garvin of Denison, Iowa, Jim Garvin of Startup, Washington and Kathy & Leo Wakehouse of Denver, CO and many other relatives and friends.
