John "Jack" Kenneth Wingrove was born September 20, 1931, to Herbert and Bertha (Cramer) Wingrove in Arion, Iowa. He was raised in Arion, Buck Grove, and Dow City. He attended Washington #3 Country School. Jack worked for his parents on the farm and also at the hatchery and chicken plant in Dow City. Jack married Betty Jane Brasel on November 11, 1951, at the chapel at Denison's United Methodist Church. Jack drove a truck for Omaha Livestock, Holmes Trucking, Sioux City Motors, and TransCon Trucking. While working for these various trucking firms, the couple lived in Omaha, Dunlap, and Cheyenne, Wyoming before moving back to Dunlap in 1991 when Jack retired from TransCon Trucking.
Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dunlap. He enjoyed working with wood and going for coffee.
Jack died on Monday, May 31, 2010, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 78 years, eight months, and 11 days.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dale; and brother, Bill Wingrove. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Wingrove of Dunlap, Iowa; four children, Dian (Ron) Olson of Apache Junction, Arizona, Dana (Dean) Erlbacher of Earling, Iowa, Doug Wingrove of Wendover, Nevada, Deb (Robbie) Henry of Bellevue, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Denise (Wingrove) Sawicki of Burns, Wyoming; 15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Don (Arlene) Wingrove of Marshalltown, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wingrove of Dow City, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.
