Joyce Ann Ray was born October 7, 1938, to Meyer and Doretha (Ellison) Ray in Dunlap, Iowa. She first attended Olympus Country School and then graduated from the Woodbine High School in 1957. Joyce worked at North-western Bell and Farmer's National Bank in Omaha, a home health care agency and in the demonstration sales at Bag-N-Save.
Joyce loved her cat and she loved to shop. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and going out to eat. She also took great pleasure in receiving cards and letters in the mail. Joyce enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash and George Jones country music.
Joyce died on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Maple Crest Care Center in Omaha, Nebraska at that age of 74 years, four months, and 23 days.
Joyce was preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents. She is survived by her sister, Jane and her husband Pat Emge of Shenandoah, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Steve Emge and his wife JoLinda of Durant, Oklahoma, Kevin Emge and his wife Mary of Grinnell, Iowa, Lisa Emge of Omaha, Nebraska, Patrick Emge of Ames Iowa, Lana and her husband Doug Schroder of Polk City, Iowa; 11 great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
