Judy Grandmont

Judy K. (Blackman) Grandmont was born March 19, 1943, in Woodbine, Iowa to Gordon and Ida (Anderson) Blackman. Judy attended the Woodbine Normal School and graduated in 1961. After her graduation Judy started working for a construction company in Omaha, Nebraska. Judy married Ted Grandmont on October 29, 1965, in Poughkeepsie, New York. She then worked as a bookkeeper for D & S Pumps in Brewster, New York. The couple moved to Woodbine in 1967 and she worked for various companies as a bookkeeper. The couple retired and moved to Avoca in the early 1990s.

Judy enjoyed camping, bingo, and writing in her diary. She also enjoyed Christmas time and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Judy died on July 1, 2011, at her home in Avoca, Iowa at the age of 68 years, three months and 12 days.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Justin Grandmont. She is survived by her husband, Ted Grandmont of Avoca, Iowa; two sons, Ed Grandmont of Woodbine, Iowa, Jeff Grandmont and fiancée Julie Stiehl of Avoca, Iowa; two daughters, Kim and her husband Wayne Woebke of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karen Rice of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nine grandchildren; six+ great grandchildren; sister, Betty and her husband Ron Allen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
