Karla Melby

Karla Sue (Brown) Melby was born on April 27, 1972, to Neil and Janelle (Johnson) Brown in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1990. After high school Karla attended Iowa Western Community College. Karla married Travis Melby on April 17, 2004, at the Solider Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa. Karla worked as a CNA for about 15 years at various places including Harrison County Home Health and Elmwood Nursing Home.

Karla loved crafts, especially wedding crafts. She made her own wedding bouquet and cake. She enjoyed baking and making candy. Karla treasured spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Karla died at the Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa on December 17, 2018, attaining the age of 46 years, seven months and 20 days.

Karla is survived by her husband, Travis Melby of Moorhead, Iowa; daughter, Rebecca Melby of Missouri Valley, Iowa; parents, Neil and Janelle Brown of Woodbine Iowa; two brothers and sister-in-law, Kurt Brown and Katie Pederson and Kevin Brown both of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
