Kenneth "Kenny" Theodore Lee was born June 4, 1929, to Theodore and Luella (Pardee) Lee in Castana, Iowa. He grew up in the Castana and Soldier areas and graduated from Castana High School in 1947. Kenny married LaVirta "Vertie" Hintz at St. Peters Evangelical Church in Mapleton, Iowa on December 4, 1949. The couple lived and farmed on the same farm their entire married life. Kenny was also a Pioneer Seed Corn dealer for many years.

Kenny was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church and held many positions including: chairman of the building committee for the new church, deacon, and trustee. He also served on the Board of Directors at the Soldier Valley Savings Bank and the Community Bank, the East Monona School Board, and the Drainage District Board. He was an active leader in community activities, events, and projects. Kenny's life's work was farming. He also enjoyed building furniture, fishing, camping, and dancing. Kenny loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Kenneth died Friday, May 4, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa attaining the age of 77 years and 11 months.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Lee; and son-in-law, Randy Olson. He is survived by his wife, LaVirta "Vertie" Lee of Soldier, Iowa; three children, Vicky Lee and her partner Beliz Brother of Seattle, Washington, Sandra Olson of Soldier, Iowa, Dennis Lee and his wife Nudcha of Roscoe, Illinois; five grandchildren, Stacy Helton and Marcy Olson both of Soldier, Iowa, Carly and her husband Bob Snider of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Courtney Lee and Derek Lee both of Roscoe, Illinois; one great granddaughter, Cady Helton of Soldier, Iowa; two sisters, Juanita Burke of Castana, Iowa, Ann Swenson of Soldier, Iowa; sister-in-law June Lee of Moorhead, Iowa; special nephew, Kevin Swenson and his wife Joni of Soldier, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
