Kenneth Edward Schiltz was born on June 19, 1943, in Dunlap, Iowa to Arthur and Ilene (Truitt) Schiltz. He attended school in Dunlap and Ute. Kenny then served in the US Army from September 7, 1960, to September 13, 1963.  Basic training was at Fort Riley, Kansas and he served in France and Germany.  Kenny installed classified radios into the aircraft and later on Ken and a pilot traveled to retrieve the classified radios out of wrecked planes. On July 20, 1964, Kenny married Judy Farris in Logan, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Brenda, Paul and Larry. The couple lived in Omaha and then lived in various towns in western Iowa, before settling in Woodbine in 1973. Kenny worked in heating and air conditioning for Onawa Propane for a short time and then Dayhuff Chevrolet in Logan, Woodhouse Auto and then at the Harrison County REC as a mechanic. In Judy’s very short retirement, the couple enjoyed trips to Branson and Colorado. Any trip they took revolved around visiting flea markets and swap meets.

Kenny was always restoring cars and trucks and also enjoyed collecting and shooting guns. Most importantly, he enjoyed his family time with his children and grandchildren.

Kenny died on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 80 years, four months and 28 days.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; infant son, Larry; and brother-in-law, Donald Farris. He is survived by two children, Brenda and her husband Jerry Pfannes of Ankeny, Iowa and Paul Schiltz and his wife Kelli of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Hannah (Dustin) Lange, Hope (Grant) Hayes, Adam Pfannes, Amanda Stukenholtz, Krystal Camron and Brooke Camron; six great grandchildren Bentley and Tucker Pfannes, Oakleigh Hayes, Lincoln and Cooper Stukenholtz and Ellie Rea; two sisters, Norma and her husband Jim Rock of Woodbine, Iowa and Barbara and her husband Ken Evers of Marysville, Missouri; brother Alvin Schiltz and his wife Francine of Modale, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
