Laqueta Gorham

LaQueta Joy (Knoff) Olson Gorham was born December 5, 1932, to Joseph and Hazel (Coate) Knoff in Moorhead, Iowa. She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. LaQueta married Maynard Olson at the Soldier Lutheran Church on September 9, 1950. The couple lived and farmed in the Soldier and Moorhead area. The couple was blessed with two sons. Maynard died in 1979. LaQueta married Neal Gorham on October 18, 1980, at Bethesda Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Soldier. For a few years LaQueta worked at McCall's Auction and Antiques in Onawa. In 2001 the couple built the Soldier Speedee Stop.
LaQueta was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead and was active in the church circle. LaQueta loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed being outside and took pride in mowing the lawn and gardening. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren fishing. LaQueta also enjoyed reading and putting puzzles together.

LaQueta died on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 years and 20 days.

LaQueta was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Maynard Olson in 1979, and two sons, Randy Olson on January 6, 2006, and Craig Olson on June 4, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Neal Gorham of Soldier, Iowa; five grandchildren; Stacy and Nick Brandon of Soldier, Iowa, Carly and Bob Snider of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Marcy Olson of Soldier, Iowa; Aaron Olson of Omaha, Nebraska and Nina Olson of Ute, Iowa; two great granddaughters, Cady Helton and Kherington Snider; two daughters-in-law, Sandy and Tom Harris of Soldier, Iowa, Linda Olson of Lakeview, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
