Larry Lamont Douglas was born on November 20, 1940, in Estherville, Iowa to parents Lamont George and Mable Eva (Netsch) Douglas. The family moved back to Woodbine and Larry attended Meadow Brook Country School and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1959. Larry worked for some area farmers while in high school. After high school, he worked for Forrest Mathison as a mechanic and then at the Woodbine schools as a custodian. On August 28, 1960, Larry married Janice Golden at the Woodbine RLDS Church. In 1963, Larry was drafted into the US Army. He served 13 months in Korea with the 249th Military Police Company. Due to his typing skills, he was assigned to the office typing up reports. The remainder of his two-year stint was in the United States. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Dayhuff Chevrolet in Logan, the Dunlap Auto parts store, Nebraska-Iowa Supply in Blair, Sidels Store in Missouri Valley and then Kelly Ryan in Blair. He retired from Kelly Ryan in 2008.
Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, collecting antiques, gardening and visiting.
He always had a passion for cars and enjoyed working on his GMC Caballero and his other cars. His nephews always wanted to ride with Uncle Larry.
Larry died on March 14, 2022, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn infant; and three brothers, Lloyd "Fuzzy" Douglas, Gail Douglas and Lyle Douglas. He is survived by his wife, Janice Douglas of Woodbine, Iowa; sister, Karen and her husband, Doug Rickers of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
