Lawrence E. Robbins was born on September 12, 1919, in Walnut Grove, Tennessee to parents Authur Thomas and Annie (Condrey) Robbins, and died on October 4, 2008 in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 89 years and 22 days.
He attended school in the Walnut Grove area, and then joined the C.C. Camp in Oxford, Mississippi. Lawrence joined the U.S. Army in October of 1942 as a radio operator. In May, 1943 he graduated from Officers Training School and was sent to the Signal Corp. in Alaska. He was discharged from the service while in Alaska, and began working in Civil Aeronautics. On January 25, 1947, he married Ruth Suddick in Alaska. The couple moved to South Bend, Indiana in the summer of 1948. While there, their first child Cynthia was born. The family moved to Logan in May of 1951, and Lawrence went to work for his father-in-law in an insurance agency. Cheryl, their second child, was born in Logan. The couple purchased a farm four miles north of town and continued to operate the Logan Insurance Agency & Bond Company after Ruth's father's death. They later purchased the Logan Motel and Boarding House. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, daughter Cynthia Robbins Scott, and two brothers, Dalton and James Robbins. He is survived by his sister Lorene Young of Florida; daughter Cheryl Berg and husband Rick of Washington state; son-in-law Russell Scott of Oregon; nieces and nephews Peggy Rhoades and husband Dan of California; Tom Robbins and wife Sandy of Magnolia; Joseph Robbins and wife Dee of Lincoln, Nebraska; Deb Grant and husband Kevern of Logan; Gregory Young and wife Sue Ann, Amanda Miller and husband Thomas, Robin Culver and husband Lewis, Christina Bressack and husband Henry, all of Florida; Anastasia Richardson of New York; along with many grand-nieces and nephews.

At Lawrence's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation in the name of Ruth Robbins or the American Cancer Society in the name of Cynthia Robbins Scott.

Fouts Funeral Home of Woodbine was in charge of arrangements.
