Leslie Dean Olson was born on September 1, 1950, to John and Margaret (Wiepert) Olson in Logan, Iowa. He was raised in Logan and graduated from Logan High School in 1969. Les proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 ~ 1973. Les married Jackie Price on October 27, 1972, at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine. The couple lived in Logan, Columbus, Nebraska, then moved to Woodbine in 1988. Les worked for 23 years in the law enforcement field. He retired from this and in 1993 he began Les Olson Trucking.
Les loved to tell stories, hunt, ride the 4 wheeler, and loved his wiener dogs. He also loved to drive the bulldozer, go to Estes Park, Colorado and eat Colorado peaches. Les particularly enjoyed his family ~ especially his grandchildren.
Les died on Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 63 years, one month and 20 days.
Les was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, John Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Olson of Woodbine, Iowa; four children, Julie and her husband Randy Carlson of Lafayette, Louisiana, Eric Olson and his wife Kim of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Jill and her husband Chris Higgins of Mondamin, Iowa, Les and his wife Jamie Olson of Woodbine, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin and Elizabeth Carlson, Shelby Marley, Abigail, Arron and Nicole Olson, Thomas and Matthew Tremel and Paige Higgins, Elise, Lucas and Jace Olson; two brothers, Allen Olson of Magnolia, Iowa, Jim Olson and his wife Lyla of Logan, Iowa; sister, Toni Olson of Logan, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
