Linda Sewell

Linda Kay Sewell was born on September 2, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri to Roy Jr. and Beverly (McDaniel) Sides. The family spent a couple years in Dixon, Illinois and then she grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where she attended Westside Schools. Linda’s career started out at Mutual of Omaha. She later embraced a new chapter when she lived and worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a year. In May of 1982, Linda met the love of her life, Milt, in a corner tavern, a moment that would lead to a beautiful journey together. The couple were united in marriage on November 17, 1984, at the Christian Church in Logan, Iowa. They resided in Magnolia, Iowa for many years and then in October of 2009 moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa. Linda worked at various jobs over the years, including Mutual of Omaha, Vulcan Industries, the Onawa casino, Ameristar Casino, Sides Engineering and her final job was at Conagra Foods. Milt and Linda were blessed to help raise one foster son, Thomas, who brought great joy into their lives.

Linda enjoyed playing softball and played on several area teams. She and Milt loved to travel and go camping. They spent two winters in Arizona. Linda was a longtime fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and enjoyed tuning in to the football and volleyball games. She also loved when they would take their dog Gunner to complete in the “DOCKDOGS” jumping competition. More than anything, she loved spending quality time with her husband, family and friends creating memories that will forever be treasured.

Linda died on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Azria Health Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley at the age of 65 years and 28 days.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Roy Sides, Jr; brother, David Sides; and grandmother, Wahneeta McDaniel. She is survived by her husband, Milt; mother, Bev Sides of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Lori and her husband Randy Barry of Woodbine, Iowa; foster son, Thomas Theulen of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
