 Linda Kay Welander was born on October 13, 1945, in Woodbine, Iowa to Dewey Walter and Irene Gladys (Boe) Cleveland. She grew up in Woodbine, where she attended school, graduating as salutatorian of her class in 1964. Linda went on to further her education at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and then Dana College in Blair, Nebraska where she graduated with degrees in English and French. Linda was united in marriage to Wally Welander and they were blessed with three children, Wendy, Wynn and Marc. She taught school at West Harrison in Mondamin, Iowa and at the Charter Oak-Ute school. Linda then stayed home to raise her kids and helped other teachers by babysitting for their children. While living in Charter Oak she also worked a few jobs including working at the local cafe. Due to her health, Linda has been in a nursing care facility for the last 23 years of her life.

 Linda was a member of the Charter Oak Methodist Church where she was very involved. She enjoyed helping at church and the groups she was involved in there. Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed board games. Most of all, Linda loved her family. She attended all of her children’s sporting events while they were in school and later on she enjoyed helping with her grandchildren.

 Linda died on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of 79 years, three months and 12 days.

 Linda was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and her former husband, Wally Welander. She is survived by her children, Wendy Welander and her husband Brad Bell of Izmir, Turkey, Wynn and her husband Kevin Dau of Denison and Marc Welander and his wife Heather of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
