Lois Anderson

Lois Elaine (Davie) Anderson was born August 28, 1924, to Paul and Claribel (Lambert) Davie in Dunlap, Iowa. She attended school in Dunlap and graduated with the class of 1941. On February 22, 1944, Lois married Kenneth Anderson at the St. Patrick's parsonage. The couple moved south of Dunlap to the "little" house and then in 1970 they moved up the road to the family farm.

Lois was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dunlap. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking meals for her family. Lois spent her entire life doing the things she enjoyed most that of being a farm wife, raising her six children, and helping care for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In November of 2011, as a result of Alzheimer's disease, she became a resident of the Dunlap Care Center.

Lois died on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at the Dunlap Care Center at the age of 88 years and 19 days.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard "Dick" Anderson; granddaughter, Amy Heffernan; son-in-law, John Smith; and three brothers, Frank Davie and infants, John and Paul Davie. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Anderson of Dunlap, IA; five children, Donna (Paul) Weber, Phyllis Fouts, Mary Lou Smith, Betty "Buff" (Pat) Melby and Bill (Sara) Anderson all of Dunlap, IA; daughter-in-law, Rose Thompson of Dunlap, IA; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild due in December; two brothers, Jim Davie and Don (Jane) Davie all of Dunlap, IA; sister, Myra (Gene) Peterson of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Ray Gourley of Antioch, CA; and many other relatives and friends.
