Lola Dinsmore

Missouri Valley, Iowa

Lola Edith (Martin) Dinsmore was born January 23, 1918, to Al and Lena (Brauneisen) Martin on a farm northeast of Logan, Iowa. She was raised near Logan and attended Starry Point and Cass Center Country Schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1936. Lola married Arthur "Pete" Dinsmore on November 1, 1936. The couple lived in Brooklyn, Iowa for a few years and then returned to Harrison County. They then moved to Oregon in 1951. Lola worked at counting apples and picking cherries and strawberries. The couple returned to Harrison County in 1954. Lola raised chickens as well as a large garden. She also worked at the LoMa school district. Pete died in 1989. Lola then became a care giver for older folks so they could remain in their home.

Lola was a member of the Christian Church in Logan. She loved to play cards, bingo, go to the casino and tell stories.

Lola died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 92 years and 18 days.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete Dinsmore; two great grandchildren, Christopher Branstetter; and Jaylee Myer; two brothers, Paul and Leslie Martin; and three sisters, Freda Myer, Alice Leonard, and twin sister Lois Dinsmore. She is survived by her three children, Charlene (Cecil) Branstetter of Logan, Iowa, Jerry (Ella) Dinsmore of Ingram, Texas, Marilyn (Edwin) Myer of Logan, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many other relatives and friends.
