Lola Ferguson

Lola Rae (Boyce) Ferguson was born December 26, 1936, to Albert and Faye (Woodard) Boyce in Dunlap, Iowa. She attended country school in the Dunlap area. Lola married Carl Ferguson on December 23, 1954, in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived in Norfolk, Virginia until Carl was discharged from the service. They then returned to Dunlap. Lola worked at Elliot's Variety Store before the couple purchased the business. They later operated the Safari and Lola worked for Moore Brother Grocery Store and the Dunlap City Office. The couple moved to Texas in 1983. Lola was a bookkeeper at Alis Chalmers Implement and owned two video stores in Panhandle and Clarendon, Texas. Lola also worked at Boots and Jeans Western Store in Amarillo, Texas. The couple moved back to Dunlap in the fall of 2006.

Lola loved her garden ~ especially planting flowers. She also enjoyed music, playing the piano and playing the guitar. Lola looked forward to living in Dunlap again.

Lola died on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa attaining the age of 70 years, nine months, and 20 days.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carla; twin sister, Lucille; an infant sister; and four brothers, Harold, Cliff, Kenneth "PeeWee" and Donald. She is survived by her husband, Carl Ferguson of Dunlap, Iowa; one son,Calvin Ferguson of Kansas City, Missouri; four sisters, Donna Hunter of Colorado, Loretta Johnson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ruth Androy and Dorothy Ferguson both of Dunlap, Iowa; one brother, Albert "Gus" Boyce and his wife Velma of Blair, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
