Louise Stoley

Louise Mardell (Vanness) Stoley was born May 17, 1923, to Amos and Margaret (Owens) Vanness in Monona County, Iowa. She attended country school in Panama and Pisgah. She attended high school in Pisgah and Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine in 1940 with her Normal Training Certificate. She then attended Buena Vista College at Storm Lake, Iowa. She taught country school in Monona and Harrison Counties. Louise married Richard Harry Stoley on June 24, 1943. They purchased a farm northwest of Woodbine and lived there for 41 years. She then moved to Dunlap, and Louise worked at the Westmont Care Center in Logan.

Louise accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at Olympus Sunday school. She was baptized at the Christian Church in Woodbine, and was a member of the Congregational Church in Dunlap. She was also active at the Senior Center and Historical Society. She loved to help others and was devoted to her family. Louise enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed sewing rugs, quilting and writing.

Louise died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 11 days.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Stoley in 1984; two sisters, Fayette Wendt and Doris Wagner; two brothers, Darrell and Clayton Vanness; and son-in-law, Johnny Seale. She is survived by her seven children, Barbara and Gary Cox of Dunlap, Iowa, Marlene Seale of Palm Coast, Florida, Carolyn and John Mosley of Clinton, Mississippi, Richard Stolley of Woodbine, Iowa, Doug and Debbi Stolley of Palm Coast, Florida, Brad and Susan Stolley of Underwood, Iowa, Randy Stolley of Clinton, Mississippi; 17 grand-children; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Jean Vanness of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ardith Davis of Onawa, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
