Lynn Paul Smith was born February 24, 1959, to Paul and Jan (Fox) Smith in Denison, Iowa. He was raised near Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1977. He started farming and working at the Boyer Valley Plant near Denison. On February 14, 1981, Lynn married Greta Sisson at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The couple was blessed with a son, Erik. Greta died in 1986 while pregnant with twins, Alex & Alexis. Lynn started working at Farmland and was there for 18 years. Lynn moved in 1998 to Spanaway, Washington. He drove truck for Gordon Trucking and then was a fork lift operator for James Hardy. Lynn returned to Dunlap in 2011 and worked at QLF in Dunlap as a maintenance supervisor.
Lynn enjoyed socializing, playing cards and he loved to go to auctions, flea markets and second hand stores. He enjoyed day trips and his trip to Indianapolis with Erik and Peggy to see the Colts play. Lynn was a Broncos and a Colts fan. He also loved tractors and helping Steve on the farm.
Lynn died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Luke's Regional Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 55 years, three months, and 28 days.
Lynn was preceded in death by his grandparents; wife, Greta Smith; and twin children, Alexander and Alexis. He is survived by his son, Erik (Cecilia) Smith of Granger, Iowa; grandson, Colt; fiancée, Peggy Carlson of Ute, Iowa; parents, Paul and Jan Smith of Dunlap, Iowa; brother, Steve (Barb) Smith of Dunlap, Iowa; niece, Larissa (D.J.) Kuker of Milford, Iowa; nephew, Courtland Smith of Dunlap, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
