Mabel Lee (Mackey) Brummer was born May 30, 1928, to James Earl and Mabel (Trimble) Mackey in Hamburg, Iowa. She was raised near Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1946. Mabel attended Capital Beauty School in Omaha. She worked as a receptionist for a few years before she married Frank Brummer on July 29, 1949. They moved with the railroad and lived throughout Iowa in Belle Plaine, Denison, Missouri Valley and later in Council Bluffs.
Mabel loved to travel as well as travel with their camper. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games as well as going to the Casino. Mabel was very devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mabel died on August 6, 2018, at the Amelia House in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 90 years, two months, and seven days.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, James Mackey, Jr., Shirley Corbett, Donna Perse, and Carol Morrison. She is survived by her children, Marsha (Mike) Grandick of Underwood, Iowa, Monte (Cheri) Brummer of Iowa City, Iowa, Becky (Dan) Kougias of Modale, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn Connel of Omaha, Nebraska, Janet (Terry) Heig of Sun City West, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
