Margaret Ellen (Nelson) Bonsall was born November 24, 1929, to Harvey and Beatrice (Durham) Nelson in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1946. Margaret married John Bonsall on August 9, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Colorado Springs, CO while John was stationed in the Army. They then moved to Dunlap where they raised their family. Margaret and John started the family business, Bonsall TV. John died on October 27, 1981.

Margaret was a member of the Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and she was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed being a part of the Sunshine Club and the Tuesday morning tea group. Margaret was a faithful volunteer for community-wide activities. She supported and cheered at many school activities. While frequently visiting the residents at the Care Center, Margaret enjoyed the Red Hat Society and helping with bingo.

Margaret died peacefully on July 3, 2007, at Community Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family, in Missouri Valley, Iowa attaining the age of 77 years, seven months, and nine days.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jerry Nelson, and sister-in-law, Ida Nelson. She is survived by her five children, Jeri (Paul) Soderholm of Durham, NH, Dick (Mary Jo) Bonsall of Dunlap, IA, Chuck (Brenda) Bonsall of Dow City, IA, Laurie (Spencer) Howard of Overland Park, KS, Bill (Darlene) Bonsall of Clear Lake, IA; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Wally Nelson of Council Bluffs, IA; one sister Elizabeth (Dr. Dan) Mergens of Omaha, NE; many other relatives and friends; and her cat Peaches.
