Margaret Carmichael

Margaret Elsie (Berens) Carmichael was born on September 16, 1914, to William and Mary (Weber) Berens in Crawford County, Iowa. She was raised in Dunlap and attended school there. Margaret married Ronald Carmichael on February 2, 1934. The couple lived on a farm near Dunlap until Ronald's death in 1983. Margaret then moved the house and herself into town.

Margaret was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, flowers, walking and cooking.

Margaret died on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 95 years, four months, and 25 days.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Carmichael; three sons, Jack Carmichael, Ronald L. Carmichael and Steven Carmichael; one sister, Helen Hunter; and two brothers, Bernard and Leo Berens. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Catherine, Christine, Matthew and Steven Carmichael; six great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
