Margaret Emily (Miller) Cox was born January 16, 1926, to John L. and Matie (Petersen) Miller in Orient, Iowa. When she was in the 4th grade, the family moved to Woodbine. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1943. Margaret attended summer school at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa and then taught country school for four years. Margaret married Donald Cox on September 5, 1947. She continued teaching school for a few more years after her marriage.
Margaret was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the morning circle. Over the years, she was the Sunday school superintendent, she directed the junior choir and she was currently a member of the adult choir. Margaret was also a member of the Eastern Star. Margaret loved the out-of-doors. She would take walks in the timber, admire wild flowers, or ride her 4 wheeler and/or her snowmobile. Margaret preferred to help with the planting and other field work than to be in the house.
Margaret died on Thursday, November 17, 2005, at her home attaining the age of 79 years, 10 months, and one day.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, David. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald; five sons, DJ and his wife Judy of Blencoe, Iowa, Daryl and his wife Julie of Dunlap, Iowa, Lauren and his wife Juli of Woodbine, Iowa, Dennis and his wife Michele of Woodbine, Iowa, and Albert and his wife Brenda of Wisner, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; five siblings, Elizabeth Bai of Edmonton Alberta, Canada, Helen Fischer of Woodbine, Iowa, Charles Miller and his wife Barbara of Woodbine, Iowa, Carol Ruth McClenathan of Woodbine, Iowa, Doris Ellen and her husband Ray Points of Mesquite, Nevada; and many other relatives and friends.
