Margaret Marie (Harmon) Hamer was born on May 7, 1923, to Emmett and Minnie Etta (Outhouse) Harmon in Moorhead, Iowa. The family moved to Pisgah in 1935, where she graduated from high school in 1940. On January 23, 1943, Margaret married Dwight Hamer at the RLDS Church in Omaha. After the couple was married, Dwight was stationed in Amarillo, Texas where they lived for about a year. After he was discharged, they moved back to Pisgah. In the late 1960s, Margaret began working as the school cook in Pisgah, and she remained for many years. Margaret worked at Plesswegg's restaurant in Logan also. Margaret enjoyed playing bridge and square dancing. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and popcorn balls.
Margaret died, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the Longview Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 25 days.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwight Hamer; son, Terry Hamer; son-in-law, Curt Hanson; three brothers, Everett, Howard and George Harmon and two sisters, Velma Holben and Virginia Cave. She is survived by her three children, Diane Hanson of Fairfield, Iowa, Linda Terry of Ralston, Nebraska, Tim Hamer and his wife Mary of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Judy Hamer of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Darlene Harmon of West Liberty, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
