Marguerite Stockstad

Marguerite Elaine (Behm) Stockstad was born October 28, 1916, to Henry and Hazel (McManimie) Behm in Modale, Iowa. Marguerite was raised in Modale, graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1932, and attended St. Mary's College in Omaha for one year. Marguerite married Ray Stockstad on May 10, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple purchased the Dunlap Dry Cleaners which they operated for 22 years. Marguerite also worked as the Selective Service Director in Logan, Iowa for three years, at KDSN radio in Denison, Iowa, and was also a secretary at various business in Dunlap
Marguerite was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society where she had served as president. She volunteered for the Governor of Iowa, active in the Iowa Democratic Party, and served on the Missouri Valley Hospital's auxiliary board. Marguerite and Ray also enjoyed dancing.
Marguerite died on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 19 days.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray on March 6, 2003; sister, Regina Petersen and brother Donald Behm. She is survived by four children, Phil (June) Stockstad of St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda (Carl) Brink of Honey Creek, Iowa, Shauna Lee (Lloyd Nabb) of Maquoketa, Iowa and Doug (Teresa) Stockstad of Winchester, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six siblings, Lucille DeGood of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Behm of Puerto Verda, Mexico, Virginia Behm of Denver, Colorado, Duane Behm of Omaha, Nebraska, Larry Behm of Fallbrook, California, Gerald Behm of Maplewood, Minnesota;and many other relatives and friends.
