Marian (Armstrong) Sexton, 89, died on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa. Marian was born April 29, 1918, to Archie and Anna (Sillau) Armstrong in Logan, Iowa. Marian attended country school and graduated from Logan High School in 1935. She went on for her Normal Training and taught country school at Mount Hope. Marian married Jesse Sexton on April 18, 1942, in Fremont, Nebraska. The couple farmed and later Marian returned to teaching at Calhoun #1. When that school closed she taught in the Modale area until 1966. She then worked for Perfection Form in Logan until 1991. Jess died in June of 1975.
Marian was an active member of the Christian Church in Logan. She taught Sunday school, children's church, and Vacation Bible School. She also volunteered at the Harrison County welcome center. Marian always had a wonderful garden and she enjoyed traveling in her retirement years.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; sister, Elaine Armstrong at age three; and son-in-law, Henry "Jolly" Jennelle. She is survived by her three children, Sheryl Jennelle of Grand Island, Nebraska, Don Sexton and his wife Edythe of Logan, Iowa, Terry Sexton and his wife Mary Jo of Whitehall, Montana; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Nelson of Logan, Iowa, Doris Wipperling of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Dorothea Ann Anderson of Aurora, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
