Marie Davis

Marie J. (O'Hara) Davis was born March 12, 1914, to Thomas and Catherine (Fitzgerald) O'Hara in Omaha, Nebraska. Marie married Edmond Kotera on June 27, 1941. The couple was blessed with one son, Robert. Ed died in 1943. Marie worked in a candy store and then for Union Pacific Railroad. While working for the railroad, she met Jordan Davis. The couple was married on December 20, 1945. They had one son, James. The couple farmed and Marie was a housewife until 1959. Marie then took a job as a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance Company. She held this position until 1972. She then worked as a receptionist for Dr Smith. She retired from this job at the age of 64. In 1998 the couple moved to Valley View Village in Des Moines, Iowa. Jordan died on June 26, 2002.

Marie died on Sunday, November 20, 2005, in Des Moines, Iowa attaining the age of 91 years, eight months, and eight days.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Kotera and his wife Diane of Bedford, Texas, James Davis and his wife Sherrie of Runnells, Iowa; four grandchildren, Rob Kotera and his wife Karen of North Richland Hills, Texas, Tim Kotera and his wife Lisa of Flower Mound, Texas, John Davis and his wife Deb of Altoona, Iowa, and Beth Davis and her husband Mike Latessa of Des Moines, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Somers of Papillion, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
