Marjorie Ruth (Kenkel) Calder was born at home on August 23, 1933 near Dunlap, Iowa to Bernard and Caroline (Mumm) Kenkel. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Dunlap through the first grade. The family then moved to Woodbine where she finished school, graduating in 1951. After Marge graduated, she worked for Mutual of Omaha in the Medicare Accounting Department until she retired. Marge was very dedicated to her extended family. She helped take care of her nephew Steven when his brother Terrance was sick with cancer. She babysat when needed, took groups of nieces and nephews on family excursions, and provided care for her siblings as they faced a variety of healthcare challenges.

On October 20, 1987, Marge married the love of her life, Michael D. Calder. They resided in Omaha, Nebraska. They both enjoyed traveling, making trips to Germany, Canada and other locations to visit family members. She attended St. James Catholic Church in Omaha and assisted with funeral dinners after she retired. After retirement, she worked part time for the Creighton Clinic in the business office.
