Also on May 24th the burial will be in Stuart, Iowa at 1:00 pm. A luncheon reception will be held at 5:00 pm at 45 3rd Street in Woodbine.

Martha "Marty" Raye (Powell) Lawson was born April 21, 1942, to Ernest and Zella (Paul) Powell in Los Angeles, California. She attended school in California and lived in various locations in California. Marty married Roy Lawson on June 18, 1994. The couple moved to Woodbine. Roy died on September 17, 2005.

Marty was a great artist and she enjoyed playing cards, dice and dominoes. She also enjoyed helping the students at Unity High School. Marty loved having a cup of coffee.

Marty died on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 66 years and 29 days.

Marty was preceded in death by her mother, Zella Ella (Paul) Powell; her father, Ernest Ray Powell; half brother, Chester Clinton Lane; husband Roy E. Lawson and a niece, Deborah Lee Biesemeyer. She is survived by two daughters, Tina Woods of Woodbine, Iowa and Yvonne Sullivan of Peoria, Arizona; four grandchildren, Brandon Woods, Donald Woods, Krysten Sullivan, and Jenna Sullivan; one sister, Shirley Bishop of Gun Barrel City, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
