Mary Baxter

Mary Gertrude (Renz) Baxter was born January 10, 1921, to Conrad and Cornelia (Frazier) Renz in Dunlap, Iowa. Mary was raised in Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School. On October 25, 1941, Mary married Darrell Baxter in Papillion, Nebraska. Mary worked at Barnum Produce in Woodbine, Bluestar in Council Bluffs and Wilkerson's in Fort Calhoun. Darrell died on August 2, 2000.

Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. She particularly enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Mary died on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Sanford Hospital in Vermillion, South Dakota at the age of 91 years, five months, and 20 days.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell Baxter; son, Dick Baxter; three brothers and their wives, Ernie (Ruth) Renz, Leonard (Clara) Renz and Wesley (Deliah) Renz; two sisters, Deloris Renz and Mabel (Rich) Parson; and brother-in-law, Dewey Birdsall. She is survived by four children, Marva and her husband Bob Adams of Onawa, Iowa, Kay and her husband Robert Cook of Burbank, South Dakota, Kenny Baxter and his wife Lona of Kimberling City, Missouri, Christy and her husband Gary Beistle of Polo, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Baxter of Onawa, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Birdsall of Slater, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
