Mary Inez (Lynch) Simon was born July 17, 1913, to Earl and Kathryn (Holland) Lynch in Vail, Iowa. She was raised in the Vail area and graduated from St. Anne's Catholic High School in Vail. Inez married Clair Simon on March 27, 1940, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Vail. The couple lived in various locations during World War II and then settled in Dunlap in 1944. Inez kept the books for Johnny Peterson. Johnny owned the Safari Club, a salvage yard and also a farm. Later on she also kept the books for Clair's service garage. She also worked for Paul Lehan at the drug store. Clair died on October 20, 1987.
Inez was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and also the Catholic Daughters. Inez loved tending to her flowers.
Inez died on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 100 years, 10 months, and 15 days.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clair Simon. She is survived by her five children, Gwen and husband Kenneth Paulison of Omaha, Nebraska, Joseph Simon and his wife Connie of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Robert Simon and his wife Geri of Marion, Ohio, Martin Simon and his wife Carolyn Simon of Norfolk, Nebraska, Mary and her husband Kevin Kresl of Omaha, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
