Mary Angela (Greenwood) Melby was born on November 11, 1956, in Denison, Iowa to Richard “Dick” & Geneviene “Gen” (Shields) Greenwood. Mary Ann grew up in Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1976. Mary Ann married Doc Melby on June 9, 1978. To this  union one daughter was born, Melinda. Mary Ann worked at various businesses in the area but mainly as a cook. She cooked at the Dunlap Specialty Care, Nicks Bar, Billy G’s and Fourth Ave. She also worked at the golf course, Heller’s Town & Country and Perfection Form.

Mary Ann was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. She liked to have fun and when Mary Ann was around, everybody else had fun. Mary Ann liked to golf and loved to cook, which she was great at.

Mary Ann died on October 3, 2020, at the Dunlap Specialty Care Center at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 22 days.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, Dick Greenwood; mother, Geneviene Moore; step- father, Robert Moore; and brother, Rick Greenwood. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Melby of Dunlap, Iowa; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Karly; six siblings, Mike Greenwood and Jeff Greenwood both of Omaha, Nebraska, Bill Greenwood and his wife Becky of Logan, Iowa, Tina and her husband Gilbert Banuelos of Kansas City, Missouri, and Wyatt Greenwood and his wife Mary of Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-mother, Micki Greenwood of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
