Matilda "Tillie" Christine Mulder was born July 8, 1912, to Frank and Katherine (Drekmann) Determann in LeMars, Iowa where she attended school. Tillie married Arthur Mulder on December 16, 1939. The couple lived in Alta, Dougherty, Sioux Rapids, and Woodbine, Iowa.

Tillie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After Arthur died, Tillie worked at the Golden Age Meal Site as a cook, and she eventually became the manager there. Tillie enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and she was a recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Award.

Tillie died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 97 years, seven months and one day.

Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Mulder in 1974; one son, Lawrence Mulder in 1946; and eight siblings, Bill Determann, Elizabeth Galles, Frances Pick, John Determann, Clara Huisman, Albert Determann, Josephine Determann, and Helen Blake. She is survived by her three sons, Richard (Alice) Mulder of Terril, Iowa, Paul (Joan) Mulder of Loveland, Colorado, Kenneth (Sharon) Mulder of Cross Lake, Minnesota; 10 grand-children; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Determann of Sheldon, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
