Maxine Ball

Maxine Elizabeth Ball, 94, of Woodbine died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine.
She was born May 13, 1912 to parents Henry & Margaret (Shields) Jefferson at Woodbine, Iowa. Maxine graduated from Woodbine High School in 1930. She was united in marriage to Alister S. Ball on June 30, 1935. The couple farmed south of Woodbine for many years. Maxine worked in Woodbine as a secretary/bookkeeper for several businesses including Stephany & Coe Insurance, The Woodbine Municipal Gas Company and the Woodbine Grain Elevator. She retired from the Woodbine Grain Elevator in the 1980's. AL died on December 17, 1978. She moved into her new house on 8th Street in 1985 where she lived until moving to Rose Vista in 1999.

Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodbine. She also belonged to the Odd Fellows/Rebekah Lodge in Woodbine. She became an avid bowler and helped her teams to several league championships. Maxine enjoyed traveling and with her sister-in-law Naomi, visited both coasts and many places in the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, son George Henry and two sisters, Margaret and Mildred. Maxine is survived by her son Joe Ball and his wife Connie of Woodbine, Iowa; three grandchildren, Steve Ball and his wife Nita of Des Moines, Iowa, Leigh and her husband Rick Meeker of Woodbine, Iowa and Kelly and her husband Darin Smith of Woodbine, Iowa; three step grandchildren, Shelly and her husband David Cooper of Mondamin, Iowa, Todd Ramsey and his wife Kari of Omaha, Nebraska and Shalonn and her husband Ray Zach of Woodbine, Iowa; 10 great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
