Meridel Berens

Meridel Janice (Myers) Berens was born October 20, 1942, to Howard and Marie (Linnscott) Myers in Onawa, Iowa. She was raised in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School. Meridel married Ed Berens on January 12, 1962, at the First Christian Church in Onawa. The couple made their home in Dunlap. Meridel held many jobs by: running a daycare, Rex's Meat Market, Lehan Drug Store, Town & Country convenience store, and Roger's Supermarket.

Meridel enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing computer games, sewing and visiting with friends.

Meridel died on Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 67 years three months, and 16 days.

Meridel was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Henry and Rena Berens; sister-in-law Colleen Myers; and brother-in-law, Howard Berens. She is survived by her husband, Ed Berens of Dunlap, Iowa; three children, Jon (Kim) Berens of Onawa, Iowa, Brad Berens of Salix, Iowa, Jackie (David) Barry of Woodbine, Iowa; two grandchildren, Corey Berens and Rose Berens; six step grandchildren, Matt Clayton, Erin Bryan, Zach and Jacob Holmes, Lacey Kreisel, Katie Barry; three step great grandchildren, Haley Berens, Isaac Bryan and Addyson Gustafson; brother, Vernon Myers of Onawa, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
