Michael Waite

Michael Dwane (Lynn) Waite was born March 19, 1946, to Raymond and Louretta (Haynes) Waite in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He died on June 25, 2007, in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 61 years, three months, and six days.

He grew up in Woodbine and attended Woodbine High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1974, taking part in the Viet Nam and Korean conflicts. He received his higher education in the Air Force and was awarded a degree in aeronautical engineering.

He married Marcene Nye of Boise, Idaho and to this union three children were born: Michael John, Melissa Marie, and Trevor. Following his Honorable Discharge from the USAF, he was employed with General Dynamic's in Fort Worth, Texas and he continued employment with the new owner, Lockheed Martin. He was later married to Connie Jones.

Mike, as he was familiarly known, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fort Worth, the Confederate Air Force, and a local flying club. He was a pilot, and his greatest interests, other than family and friends, were airplanes and flying.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father. He is survived by his mother, Louretta Waite of Woodbine, Iowa; three children, Michael J. (Cindy) Waite of Raleigh, North Carolina, Melissa (Steven) Sampson of New Plymouth, Idaho, and Trevor Waite of Boise, Idaho; step-son, Michael P. (Danielle) Jones of Mineral Wells, Texas; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; his sister, Lana (Robert) Schreiber of Ricketts, Iowa; brothers, David (Harriet) Waite of Blair, Nebraska, and Richard (Connie) Waite of Newton, North Carolina; and many other relatives and friends.
