On June 8, 2011, Miriam lost her long but valiant fight against cancer with her husband at her side and family surrounding. She was 71 years old. Miriam Kay (Snowbarger) Thiele was born September 28, 1939, to Roy and Thelma (Schmalz) Snowbarger in Littleton, Colorado. She lived near Goodland, Kansas and then the family moved to near Baldwin City, Kansas where she graduated from Vinland High School in 1957. She then attended Baker College in Baldwin City before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1960. On April 28, 1962, Miriam married Jim Thiele at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hooper, Nebraska. Miriam worked at a variety of administrative positions but the job she loved the most was teaching piano lessons in her home.
Miriam lived in Omaha most of her adult life. The couple retired to Woodbine, Iowa in 2000. Miriam was active in Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed living in the country where she loved flowers, gardening and visits from her children and grandchildren.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jim Thiele; children, Robert Thiele and his wife Kathy of Logan, Iowa, Deb and her husband Brian Stockman of Springville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Skye and her husband Chris Lapel, Devon and John Thiele, Kaitlin, Nicki and Megan Stockman; four great grandchildren, Matthew, Madyson, Ellie and Payton; two sisters, Peggy and her husband Clyde Coriell of Kansas City, Missouri, Eloise and her husband Larry Craig of Baldwin City, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends.
