Myra Jean (Schoenenberger) Hazard was born November 2, 1953, in Gregory, South Dakota to Chester and Opal (Peterson) Schoenenberger. She grew up in the Pony Lake area near Bassett, Nebraska. Myra graduated from Rock County High School in 1972. On June 30, 1973, Myra married Terry Hazard at the Methodist Church in Bassett, Nebraska. She received her elementary education degree from Wayne State College. The couple lived in Leigh, Nebraska, Stuart, Clearwater, Pender, and Palmyra, Nebraska before moving to Woodbine in 1998. She was currently a fifth and sixth grade teacher in the Woodbine Public school.
Myra enjoyed gardening, yard work and puzzles. Myra took great pleasure in being at the family ranch near Bassett. She loved her family ~ especially her grandchildren.
Myra died Monday, February 21, 2005, as a result of a car accident. She attained the age of 51 years, three months, and 19 days.
Myra was preceded in death by her son, James; her father, Chester Joy Schoenenberger; Louie Klasna; and granddaughter Allissa Weinandt. She is survived by her husband Terry Hazard of Woodbine, Iowa; three children, Jennifer and her husband Myron Weinandt of Yankton, South Dakota, Laura and her husband Curt Dowding of Waverly, Nebraska, Paul Hazard and his wife Amy of North Platte, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Katelynn, Cassidy, and Benjamin Weinandt of Yankton, South Dakota; mother Opal Scheonenberger of Bassett, Nebraska; two brothers Jerry Schoenenberger and his wife Milrae of Bassett, Nebraska, Alan Schoenenberger and his wife Diana of Keenesburg, Colorado, one sister, Alice Joy and her husband Mike Stork of Fremont, Nebraska, and many other relatives and friends.
James Robert Hazard was born July 31, 1986, in Atkinson, Nebraska to parents Terry and Myra (Schoenenberger) Hazard. He grew up in Clearwater, Pender and Palmyra, Nebraska before moving to Woodbine, Iowa in 1998. He was currently a senior in high school at Woodbine.
James was involved in the swing choir, concert choir, football, basketball, golf, and track. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed being an uncle to his nieces and nephew.
James died Monday, February 21, 2005, as a result of a car accident. He attained the age of 18 years, six months, and 21 days.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Myra; grandfather, Chester Joy Schoenenberger; Louie Klasna; and niece Allissa Weinandt. He is survived by his father, Terry of Woodbine, Iowa; two sisters, Jennifer and her husband Myron Weinandt of Yankton, South Dakota, Laura and her husband Curt Dowding of Waverly, Nebraska, one brother, Paul Hazard and his wife Amy of North Platte, Nebraska; two nieces, Katelynn and Cassidy Weinandt and nephew Benjamin Weinandt of Yankton, South Dakota; grandmothers Grace Hazard of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Opal Scheonenberger of Bassett, Nebraska; special friend, Becky Melby of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Friday, February 25th at 10:30 am at the Woodbine High School Gym. Visitation begins at 1:00 on Thursday at the school gym. Burial will be Saturday, at 1030 am at the Stuart Cemetery in Stuart, NE.
