Myrna Marie (Waite) Lewis 86, of Woodbine, Iowa died on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa. She was born September 23, 1922, to Arthur and Ferne (Arnold) Waite in Woodbine, Iowa. She was raised in Woodbine and graduated from the Woodbine High School in 1940. She worked for the superintendent of schools and then at Seibels Department Store, Pete's Feed Company in Council Bluffs, and Farm Credit in Omaha as a bookkeeper. Myrna married Gerald Lewis on August 27, 1946. The couple farmed southeast of Woodbine. In 1968 they moved northeast of Woodbine and continued farming. Myrna started working for the First National Bank in Woodbine on January 2, 1968, and after 24 years she retired in 1992. In December of 1996 Myrna had a massive stroke. Myrna was a member of the First Christian Church.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dwane and Raymond "Bud" Waite; and one sister, Helen Tupper. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Lewis of Woodbine, Iowa; two daughters, Barb Lewis of Woodbine, Iowa, Karen Lewis and her husband Ray Hampton of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Sara & her husband Jeff Anderson, Seth Reynolds, Steven Jensen and Brian Jensen and his fianc�e Sarah Warmbier; four great grandchildren; one brother, Glennie Waite of Woodbine, Iowa; one sister, Donna Barry of Harlan, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Waite Smith and Louretta Waite both of Woodbine; and many other relatives and friends
