Neil Leo White was born on February 19, 1935, to Leo C. and Veronica L. (Wehr) White in Portsmouth, Iowa. He attended school in Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School in May of 1952. Neil was better known to his family as “Nuck”. On June 3, 1954, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He trained at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. After training, he worked as an Aircraft Instrumental Technician Superintendent in the Aerospace Division of Schooling. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant on November 30, 1978. Neil toured all over the United States and the world; Vietnam, Thailand, Spain and France, just to name a few.
Neil was a member of the VFW and AMVETS Lodge 7; where he was known as “Pops”. He loved hunting and fishing, and he was a dedicated member to the NRA.
Neil died on August 28, 2019, at his home in Alexandria, Louisiana attaining the age of 84 years, six months and nine days.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Dettmer; and brother-in-law, Jim Wendt. He is survived by two sisters, Donna Wendt of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Mary Ann and her husband Kenneth Kups of Marshalltown, Iowa; brother, Dennis White and his wife Lori of Hayden, Idaho; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
