Norma Marie (Mann) Hardt was born September 12, 1923, to Charles Dean and Anna (Perrin) Mann in Moorhead, Iowa. She was raised near Pisgah and graduated from Pisgah High School in 1940. While in school Norma was an excellent athlete and really excelled in softball. Norma moved to Sioux City and worked as a waitress at Excel Candy Company. One of the people she waited on was Jimmy Stewart. Norma married Lee Hardt in November of 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux City until 1966 when they moved to Omaha.
Norma was a member of the Community of Christ formerly known as the RLDS. She enjoyed making peanut brittle and pickles. She hasn't missed a Nebraska Cornhusker's football game since 1967. She was either at the game or she watched it on the television or listened on the radio. She enjoyed watching all sports. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Norma died August 27, 2015, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 15 days.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee Hardt; sister, Nola Chapman, two brothers, Jerald and Loren Mann; and two brothers-in-law, Leo Chapman and Bernard Plath. She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Adrienne) Hardt of Omaha, Nebraska, Robert (Sheila) Hardt of St. Louis, Missouri, James (Tammy) Hardt of Highland, Utah; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four siblings, Duane (Jan) Mann, Viola Plath, and Ronnie (Dianne) Mann all of Woodbine, Iowa, Shirley (Terry) Weldon of Soldier, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Doris Mann and Gwen Mann both of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
