Opal Lucille (Haner) Fox was born on January 5, 1925, to Harry and Gladys (Spanswick) Haner near Moorhead, Iowa. Opal attended country school and then graduated from Woodbine High School in 1943. She worked at Sunstrand Aviation in Denver, Colorado. Opal married Blaine Fox on December 18, 1943, in Logan, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm on Highway 44. In 1964 the couple adopted Tom and in 1968 they adopted Diane. The family lived on an acreage north of Woodbine. Opal helped with the chores and took care of the children and the house.
Opal was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering and helped with funeral lunches at the church and with the school proms when her children were in school.
Opal died on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 89 years, 10 months and two days.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Blaine Fox; son, Tom Fox in November of 2012; and two sisters, Helen Brown and Delores Moores. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Tedford of Dunlap, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Shelly Fox of Deltona, Florida; five grandchildren, Brandon Allison, Jordan Allison, Sarah Fox all of Deltona, Florida, Justin Tedford of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tyler Tedford of Dunlap, Iowa; four great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dallas Moores of Sidney, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
