Richard Dale Cue was born on April 16, 1940, to Lester and Helen (Rule) Cue in Dow City, Iowa. He was raised in Dow City and graduated from Dow City High School in 1958. On February 26, 1961, Richard married Sharon DeMey at the Denison United Methodist Church. Richard worked for Crawford County for 43 years. He started in the engineering department and then transferred to the roads department and operated a road grader. He retired in 2002. Richard was a lifelong farmer where he and his wife Sharon made their home for 54 years.
Richard was a member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, watching old westerns as well as the History Channel. Most of all he enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
Richard died on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the age of 76 years, eight months, and 12 days, after a seven year battle with cancer, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Keith and Kenneth Cue; sister, Fern Jensen and granddaughter, Megan Cue. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cue of Dunlap, Iowa; three children, Doug (Jodie) Cue of Boone, Iowa, Kevin (Jolene) Cue of Rock Port, Missouri, Heidi (Steve) Warren of Ankeny, Iowa; eight grand-children; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; sister, Marion Gibson of Story City, Iowa; brother, Glenn (Marie) Cue of Webster City, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
