Richard Henry Dickman was born June 4, 1945, to Harold and Marion (Nielson) Dickman in Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised on a farm east of Woodbine. Richard attended Sunny Glenn County School graduating from Woodbine High School in 1963. He then started working for Omaha Steele. Richard married Linda Smith in 1966 at the RLDS Church in Woodbine. He was a member of the 915th Transportation Company in the Army Reserves from 1966 ~ 1971. In 1989 Richard became a self employed carpenter and in 1992 Richard's son, Jerry, joined him.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his sons. He loved his grandchildren and going to their various events. He also enjoyed bowling and camping.
Richard died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at a Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 18 days.
Richard was preceded in death by father, Harold on May 9, 2000; mother, Marion on February 1, 2009; father-in-law, Arthur Smith; brother-in-law, Dean Smith; and nephew, Tim Ehlert. He is survived by his wife, Linda Dickman of Woodbine; two sons, Jerry (Kim) Dickman of Logan, Iowa, Jody (Shanell) Dickman of Woodbine; three grandchildren, Audrina, Kyle and Stetson of Woodbine; three brothers, Harold "Dick" (Cheryl) Dickman of Missouri Valley, Iowa, David Dickman, and Danny (Sandy) Dickman all of Woodbine; three sisters, Kathleen (Virgil) Bielenberg of Storm Lake, Iowa, Diana (Keith) Mann of Lake Oswego, Oregon, "Jean" Alice (Steve) Hansen of Roland, Iowa; mother-in-law, Jessie Smith; two sisters-in-law, Elaine (Richard) Ehlert and Caroline Smith all of Woodbine; and many other relatives and friends.
