Robert George Pryor, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona died on November 8, 2014, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on November 5, 1938, to Arthur Frederick and Amanda Johanna (Volkens) Pryor Sr., in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in Missouri Valley, Iowa and attended school there. On April 23, 1960, Robert married Sally Newland in Woodbine, Iowa. Robert and Sally lived in LaVista, Nebraska for 25 years where they raised their two children. Robert was a commercial refrigeration service technician with Aksarben Refrigeration and then with Nelson Refrigeration where he worked until moving to Phoenix. He was a Pipe Fitter for 23 years and a member of Union Local 469 of Phoenix when he retired in 2000.
Robert enjoyed restoring muscle cars, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, watching football, baseball, and NASCAR. He also was a weekly volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren. He taught the older two how to work on cars and cherished his swimming time with the youngest. Robert had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving spouse of 54 years, Sally Pryor of Phoenix, Arizona; two children, Ronald Pryor of Omaha, Nebraska and Lori Pryor of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary and Montgomerie; three brothers, Richard (Jackie) Pryor, Fred (Janice) Pryor and Hugh Pryor; sister, Martha (Roland) Mace; and many other relatives and friends.
