Robert Schlensig

d. December 8, 2006

Dunlap, Iowa

THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION

Robert Milton Schlensig was born September 16, 1925, to Marty J. and Ivora Mae (Gibbs) Schlensig on a farm west of Soldier, Iowa. He was their only child. The family rented farms so they moved around a lot while Robert was growing up. Robert finished the eighth grade in country school and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1943. Robert married Betty Jean Rose (daughter of Leroy & Catherine Rose) on August 12, 1954. To this union two children were born, Milton Marty and Melba Kay. Bob served his county in the United States Army for 1955 to 1957. Bob thought he would be a farmer, but developed lung problems after two years in the service, so the couple settled in Phoenix, Arizona in 1963. Robert worked as a maintenance man at two separate hotels before becoming a Maintenance Engineer for J.C. Penney in Phoenix, Arizona. Robert retired from JC Penney in 1990 but continued on with his own Handyman Service that he had been doing for years. The couple moved to Circle City, Arizona in 1986 because the air quality in Phoenix had continued to deteriorate. Circle City is a small community out in the desert 20 miles north of Sun City West, Arizona.

Robert died on December 8, 2006, in Sun City West, Arizona at the age of 81 years, two months, and 22 days.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Schlensig of Circle City, Arizona; son, Milton Marty Schlensig of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Melba Kay Starr of Manteca, California; three grandchildren, Brandon and Christie Schlensig of Phoenix, Arizona and Meghan Starr of Manteca, California and many other relatives and friends.
