Robert Seda

Robert "Bob" Seda was born August 17, 1929, to Delbert and Laura (Chauncey) Seda near Dunlap. Bob grew up on the same farm west of Dunlap that he lived on and farmed his entire life until retirement; with the exception of four years spent in the Air Force. Twenty years ago he was a recipient of a heart transplant at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bob married Rita Harper on October 25, 1952.

Bob loved to ride his motorcycle and fish in Canada with his son and grandsons. He also enjoyed gardening especially growing watermelons and giving them away to family and friends. He also loved to cook and bake and take rolls to his nurses at the dialysis clinic in Onawa. Bob served on the board of the Dunlap Co-op and Crawford County Farm Bureau for many years. He was a lifetime member of Saint John Lutheran Church in Dunlap.

Bob died Monday, December 15, 2008, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, three months, and 28 days.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann McLellan; and grandson, Bobby Gray. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita Seda of Dunlap, Iowa; four children, Gary (Cindy) Seda of Woodbine, Iowa, David (Monica) Seda of Omaha, Nebraska, John (Ann) Seda of Ankeny, Donna Gray of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; eight great grand-children; and many relatives and friends.
