Roger Dean Beam was born on October 20, 1960, in Denison, Iowa to Gene and Hazel (Jurgensen) Beam. The family spent a few years in Arion, Iowa and then moved to a farm near Buck Grove, Iowa. Roger graduated from the Dow City/Arion High School in 1979. He later ventured to Liberal, Kansas where he worked for National Beef. Roger moved back to Iowa, purchasing an acreage north of Dow City, Iowa near Bell Town. There he had a shop where he serviced and restored classic cars. Roger was married for a time to Jackie Shives. He later started dating Melanie Cadwell. Roger was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

Roger enjoyed working in his garden and was very proud of it. He loved working on classic cars and old Harley Davidsons and was very meticulous at his work. He also enjoyed riding Harley’s. Roger had a witty personality and was always quick with a joke. He was also known for his imitations of famous people.

Roger died at the age of 64, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, from complications from open heart surgery.

Roger was preceded in death by his father and former wife, Jackie Beam. He is survived by his partner, Melanie; son, Joshua; grandsons, Dominic and Xavier; great granddaughter, Rosemary; mother, Hazel Beam of Dow City; siblings, Sue and her husband Jim TenEyck, Charlie Beam and his wife Sheila and Phyl and her husband Terry TenEyck all of Dow City, Cheryl and her husband Tim Maynard of Ricketts, Iowa and Levi Beam of Charter Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
