Ronald Mefferd

Ronald Norman Mefferd was born on July 25, 1937, to Daniel and Odelia (Bauer) Mefferd outside of Woodbine, Iowa. He attended country school until he started working full time on the farm. Ronald married Karilyn (Reed) Weston on July 14, 1957. Over the years, Ronald worked at Fontinelle Frames in Dunlap, was a farm hand, did mechanical work and for many years, worked construction.

Ronald loved to play pool and was on a pool league. He enjoyed mushroom hunting. He also loved to take his chances on the casino slots, dog racing and betting on football games.

Ronald died on August 30, 2021, at Risen Son in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 84 years, one month and five days.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Daniel and Leslie; and grandson, Corey Mefferd. He is survived by his children, Ronna Mefferd of Council Bluffs, Bonnie Mefferd of Denison, Iowa, Kathy (James) Robertson of Vail, Iowa, Cindy Schaben of Reno, Nevada, Russell Mefferd of Hinton, Iowa, Brenda Mefferd of Council Bluffs and Nicole Corum of Omaha, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marvin Mefferd, Bob Mefferd, Virgil Mefferd, Bernadine Behm, Marlene (Ray) Schumann and Linda Thomson; sister-in-law, JoAnn Mefferd; special friends, Dennis Burger and Shawn Gappa; and many other relatives and friends.
