Rose Sophie (Szatko) Kazor was born September 7, 1918, to James and Victoria (Gembica) Szatko in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. Rose was raised in Wolbach and attended country school. Rose married Walter Kazor May 16, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. After the couple got married they lived and farmed near Ralston, Nebraska. They then farmed near Papillion, Nebraska before moving to Dunlap in 1967 to their current farm. Walter died September 23, 1976.

Rose was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dunlap, where she was active with the Altar Society. She loved to garden, cook, and spend time with her family.

Rose died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her home near Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 90 years, seven months, and two days.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Kazor; and four brothers, Frank, Steve, Ollie, and Vincent Szatko. She is survived by her eight children, Rose (Adrian) Bosak of Papillion, Nebraska, Joan (Jack) Birdsell of Kansas City, Missouri, Theresa (Terry) Gonderinger of El Paso, Texas, Walter (Fran) Kazor of Bellevue, Nebraska, Cathy (James) Haber of Seven Hills, Ohio, Joe (JoAnn) Kazor of Waukee, Iowa, Jim Kazor of Dunlap, IA, Betty (Niels) Fogt of Weston, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two brothers Louis Szatko of Columbus, Nebraska, Leo Szatko of Clarks, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Rita Perich of Omaha, Nebraska, Sister Mary Czestochowa, M.C. Tijuana, Mexico; and many other relatives and friends.
