Rosemary (Thompson) Jacobsen was born on July 30, 1929, in Papillion, Nebraska to Avery W. and Rose (Cooper) Thompson. She grew up in Papillion and Dunlap, Iowa and graduated from Dunlap High School in 1946. While in high school she enjoyed playing basketball. She then attended Omaha CE School of Commerce and played basketball there also. Rosemary married Arthur K. "Butch" Jacobsen on January 26, 1952. The couple lived in Papillion all of their married life. Rosemary worked at the Omaha Livestock Exchange Building for more than 20 years and then at the Papio Natural Resource District for over 30 years. She retired from Papio NRD in 2004.

Rosemary was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Papillion. She coached girls' softball for many years and enjoyed playing cards, bird watching ~ especially Cardinals, and was a good marksman. She also loved to wager on sporting events.

Rosemary died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and seven days.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur "Butch" Jacobsen on January 16, 2007; five brothers, Ward, Art, Donald, Clarence and Earl Thompson; and sister, Helen Talbert. She is survived by her four children, Cheri & Jim McGuire and Denise Jacobsen & Mike Hun all of Omaha, Nebraska, Randy Jacobsen & Kris Funk of Ashland, Nebraska and Sue & Brian McGinn of Dunlap, Iowa; six grandchildren; two brothers, Jack & Carol Thompson of Henderson, Nevada and Avery & Verna Thompson of Dunlap, Iowa; sister, Ruth Bonsall of Dunlap, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lois Thompson and Darlene Thompson both of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
